WELCOME TO MY WEBSITE

I am currently the Head of Politics at Brighton College in East Sussex - having previously worked at a variety of schools and universities across the UK. I am also a Politics research student at Swansea University, looking into the use of social media by prospective parliamentary candidates (PPCs) in the 2024 UK General Election campaign.

I have a PhD in History from the University of Edinburgh and an EdD from the University of Leicester, and have written widely on the political history of the United States and imperialism. I am the author of three books, numerous articles and book chapters, and co-edited the recent collection Sports and the American Presidency with Dr Rivers Gambrell (University of Oxford).

I am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (Advance HE).

I am a member of the British Association for American Studies'  Executive Committee (Schools Lead), co-editing a newsletter aimed at A Level teachers with Dr Andrew Fearnley (University of Manchester), helping organise conferences and speakers for schools, and organising closer links between BAAS and secondary schools in general. See our website for more details: https://baas.ac.uk/community/schools/
